The Deputy Principal in charge of the junior school shows prospective parents and children our school on Mondays at 11.00am and Thursdays at 1.45pm each week. If you would like to book a time to do this please contact the school office or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Prior to your child starting school, you will receive an invitation to attend a parent meeting to meet the Principal, Deputy Principal, your child’s teacher and other parents and children from the class. You will find out everything that you need to know about starting school at this meeting.
Children are invited to attend three school visits, usually the week leading up to their fifth birthday. You will be given a letter with dates for the visits. A typical visit schedule would be:
Visit 1 8:40 – 11.00am Bring morning tea
Visit 2 8:40 – 12.30pm Bring morning tea
Visit 3 8:40 – 1:25pm Bring morning tea and lunch
You may need to provide proof of current (within in the last three months) residential address again at the time of your child’s first day of school.
After 4 – 6 weeks at school, the class teacher will make a time to meet with you for a learning conference, so your child can share their learning goals and talk about their start to school.
Procedure for enrolling a child already at school
For parents who wish to enrol a school aged child already at school who is transferring to Waitākiri School please contact the school office to confirm you are living in our school zone and for enrolment information.
New enrolments : Waitākiri School has an enrolment zone. At this time, only children living in our school zone are accepted onto the roll. If a child moves out of the school zone and the Board of Trustees determines that the student has used a temporary residence for the purpose of gaining enrolment at school, the Board will be required to annul the enrolment, and the child will need to enrol at their local school.
Sibling enrolments: Siblings (not yet at school) of students enrolled at Burwood or Windsor School on the date the Minister announced the merger (29 May 2013) may be enrolled at Waitākiri School, regardless of whether they live within the enrolment scheme home zone.
For further clarification regarding enrolments please contact the school office.
