REAL Heroes in our Community

Our children have the opportunity to collect for a various range of community organisations during their own time and at school.  These are some that we have been involved with this year.


November - SPCA Appeal

November - Help for the Homeless

A big thanks for donating goods to help the homeless and buying our cupcakes and donuts. We raised $167 and will be donating the funds to the community group ‘Help for the Homeless’. Thank

kramaThank you to everyone who bought a Krama scarf or a friendship bracelet. The sales of the krama and friendship bracelets raised $233. A group of girls from Cashmere High also raised money for the charity Flame and wanted to pool their money with our girls' money. Together they have raised more than enough for Thyda, a child in Cambodia, to go to school for a whole year.

To everyone who purchased a scrunchie from us last term, we would like to say thank you! Between selling them at school and outside the North Beach Surf Life Saving Club in the holidays have raised $690 for the surf club.  From Matilda, Holly & Layla

June - 40 Hour Famine

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in the recent 20 or 40 Hour Famine. We had over 80 students participate and together raised $3,936.80 – well done to you all. What an amazing collective achievement!

June - Wig Wednesday for Child Cancer

Thank you to everyone who made and wore wigs last Wednesday.  There were some amazing wigs with so many children (and teachers) wearing wigs it was great.  We raised $761 for Child Cancer which was fantastic. May - Fred Hollows REAL Challenge thank you!

Hello! Emily, Jessie, Tatum and Lauren here.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who participated in the Fred Hollows Foundation Cookie Fundraiser by buying a cookie. We spent all weekend baking cookies so we could raise money for this awesome charity! In total we raised exactly $200! This means we all helped 8 people see againThanks Again Emily, Jessie, Tatum and Lauren 😊

May - REAL Challenge Collection

A big thank you to the children and parents who collected for taking the time to collect for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal on Saturday at Fresh Choice Parklands.  You collected over $400 and the Salvation Army were very grateful!

March - CHILD CANCER REAL Challenge
Cancer Challenge
Thank you to everyone who supported us and Child Cancer last week by guessing how many beads were in the jar.  Hannah from Travis Studio won with her guess of 515 beads; there were 525 beads in the jar. We raised $70.80 for Child Cancer and are donating the money raised and jar of beads to them. Thanks to everyone who had a guess.

March - Red Puppy Appeal for the Blind Foundation

The Red Puppy Appeal was supported by 13 of our students at The Palms and Stanmore New World in March.  Children along with their parents helped collect in their own time on a Saturday.  This money helps train puppies to become guide dogs. Thank you to everyone involved, you did an amazing job and collectively raised $1,237.10



December - Bath Bombs for Avivabathbombthingymagiggy

I sold Bath Bombs for Aviva (formerly known as Christchurch Women’s Refuge). I went to Aviva last Thursday and gave them the giant cheque and leftover bath bombs.
They were stoked that I made $911, especially after they thought I said $111 on the phone!
I am really happy with how everything turned out and how much help and support I got. Thank you to everyone who support me and this good cause. From Livia.

November - SPCA Collection

Sasha, Daisy, Tahlia and Bronte sold cupcakes, cookies and goodies bags as well as collecting items for animals at the SPCA. They raised $440.80 and took their items and donations to the SPCA at Hornby.  Well done girls!

October - Foundation for the Blind Appeal

Many thanks and well done to Dominique; Hayley & Jacob, Nathan & Samantha, Sasha & Finn, Leni & Lucas, Tamara, Holly & Riley, Sebastian, Jake & Jessica and your fantastic parents who collected for the Blind Foundation Annual Appeal on Friday and Saturday during the last week of the October school holidays. You guys are awesome for giving up your own time to help others. October - Orana Park REAL Challenge
Tessa, Keren and Gemma wanted to sponsor an animal at Orana Park. The gold donation at Orana Park is $300. They made and sold biscuits and cupcakes and raised $352! They very kindly decided to donate the additional $52 to the school PTA.

September - Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand
Jake made lolly necklaces to raise money for Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. In preparation for Fathers Day I wanted to highlight the need for Dads to be aware of prostate cancer.  I raised a total of $502.10!

September - Red Cross for the Italian Earthquake
Noah had a coin trail in the shape of the map of Italy to raise money to send to the Red Cross for the Italian Earthquake.  He raised $211.60
